It was a job that we were not looking forward to doing during our Winter closure, but we knew it had to be done. Bedroom Van Gogh was only redecorated and upgraded five years ago and still looked super.
However, having endured two consecutive Summers with temperatures over 40ºc, the roof and wall insulation were not effective enough to withstand the intensity of this heat. So, with a heavy heart we had to cut into cavities then construct a framework over the ceiling and walls, then fill with superior grade insulation, cover with new plasterboard, plaster and finally, re-paint.
During the Winter of 2020, bedroom Degas ~ opposite the landing from Van Gogh, had the same work carried out; with the addition of new lighting and a superb ceiling fan. So, our new upgrade in bedroom Van Gogh was completed with two new suspended main lights, ambience-enhancing led lighting and of course, a multi-speed ceiling fan, too. They have proven to be perfect for keeping you cool and comfortable during the hot Summer nights with their silent motors !
The only noticeable difference in Van Gogh (apart from the new light and fan additions) are that the walls are now 20cm’s more dense !
