When we first viewed ‘la Métairie des Songes’ (although un-named at that time), we had simply viewed the grounds from the house. It was not until the second viewing that we took the opportunity to stroll around the woodlands that surrounded the land. It was enchantment at first site, like a hidden and even more precious gift awaiting discovery.
Eventually after 12 years of living here, we have managed to create a series of pathways through the trees that line the top lawns and meander down into the valley floor.
Each route made to enhance the magic of a stroll through the varied woodlands ~ vivid lime greens in the Spring, lush and dense growth during the Summer, then turning to crisp, bronzed tones as the fall arrives.
With the assistance of our marvellous mini tractor, a brush cutter and a sturdy pair of clippers, it was not too long before we had made a network around the woods. A few wooden steps carved into the ground make the entire rambling experience much improved !
We are now making a few little arrow markers to help guide our willing customers that want to enjoy a pre-dinner walk around the property (hopefully now avoiding any need for distress flares or search parties ;-))
